OVERVIEW
Players attending our Play to Develop program will show a level of progress in ball control. Passing and shooting techniques such as half-volley, side-volley, volley, drop kick, and one-touch passing are introduced, as well as tactical concepts covering spacing, movement off the ball, and positioning, as players at this level will begin to develop their strategic skills, learning to make quick and effective decisions in game situations.
Play to Develop gives players a greater overall sense of self-confidence and self-esteem, as well as an even stronger passion for the sport and a desire to continue improving their skills and knowledge of the game.
HIGHLIGHTS & OUTCOMES
Cognitive Development - Builds mental competitiveness, increased concentration, helps the player develop an understanding in how to better read the game, and make the right timing decisions and movement. Develops emotional strength and a winning mentality.
Football Know How - Through team play gain a comprehensiveÂ
understanding of the rules such as, off-side, (yellow card, red card), out, goal, and free kick and penalty.
Technical Development - Advance shooting, passing and receiving skills (first touch), develop penalty taking technique, shoot-outs and throw-ins.
Tactical Development - Intermediate tactical skills 3v2, 3v3 to 5v5, formation strategies and positional awareness, keep the ball within the team, develop creativity in attacking play, get better in transition games (off. > def. and def. > off.)
Teamwork and Cooperation - Learn to work, communicate and play as a team through mini-games and team challenges.
Physical Development - Overall improvement of fitness skills, speed, agility and endurance.
Games & Competitions - Target shooting, dribbling and passing challenges, 5-a-side games, and inter-academy competitions.
